Movies
The tight blue dress worn by Sandra Bullock in "Miss Congeniality" as she emerged from the aircraft hangar (to the music of "Mustang Sally") was made entirely of rubber bands. Sandra said she could hold it in the palm of her hand when not wearing it.
The Marine Corps Silent Drill Team performing during the opening sequences of "A Few Good Men" was actually the Texas A&M University Fish Drill Team, one of the best military drill teams in the country.
There is a scene in "A Few Good Men" where Tom Cruise impersonates Jack Nicholson saying, "Every morning, I eat breakfast three hundred yards from four thousand Cubans who are trained to kill me." This was unscripted. After several takes of that scene, Cruise ad libbed the line and it stayed in along with Demi Moore and Kevin Pollack's completely natural reaction to a funny moment.
Movie Trivia
Next time you watch "Spiderman" check out the scene with Lucy Lawless (Xena, Warrior Princess). She is the red haired punker who observes, "A man with eight arms? Sounds like a good time to me." Sam Raimi, who directed "Spiderman" had worked earlier as a producer for "Xena" asked Lawless to make the cameo.
John Hughes directed "Ferris Bueller's Day Off". If you look closely, you can see some references to Hughes's other directorial efforts. Watch the license plates of some of the vehicles. There is VCTN (National Lampoon's Vacation), TBC (the Breakfast Club), MMOM (Mr. Mom) and 4FBDO (Ferris Bueller's Day Off).
"Monster's Inc." begins with a simulation that ends with a Monster reaching for a knob on the control panel. Just below and to the left of it is a series of ten numbers. Dial those numbers and you will reach Pixar Studios, who made the movie.
Classic Movie Trivia
There is a scene in Alfred Hitchcock's classic 1954 movie "Rear Window" where Jimmy Stewart (whose character has a broken leg and is in a wheelchair) argues with Grace Kelly. During the scene, Stewart's cast switches from his left leg to his right.
One of the early big budget movies was "Camelot" in 1967. In a scene where King Arthur (Richard Harris) praises his kingdom, the good king is wearing a band-aid on his neck.
In 1966, "The Fortune Cookie" was released with an odd scene. Walter Matthau leaves one room and enters another. Nothing special about that except he appears to have lost a lot of weight in the transition. During the filming of this scene, Matthau had a heart attack and had to be rushed to the hospital. He returned five months later and 40 pounds lighter to finish the scene.
I believe it was the sixth James Bond movie "Diamonds are Forever" (1971). James Bond and Bond girl Tiffany Case are trying to escape the Clark County, Nevada Sheriff's deputies in a red Ford Mustang. The final escape stunt has Bond tipping the car so that he can drive on two wheels through a narrow alley. Only problem is that he enters the alley driving on the two right wheels and exits on the two left wheels.
