Movie Game

I've been a film buff nearly all my life, so I consider myself pretty knowledgeable in this area. I own a vast DVD collection, remember most of what I see, and can quote dialogue (word for word) from entire scenes in my favorite movies. So you can probably imagine how thrilled I was when a friend gave me a movie trivia game for my birthday last month.

I always thought that I'd be very good at movie trivia games, but I never really had a chance to play one before. Sure, I'd tried Trivial Pursuit before, but there was only one Entertainment category, which meant that I spent most of the time answering questions in subjects that I wasn't really interested in, such as sports, literature, and history. I wanted a movie trivia game that focused on films.

Well, that's exactly what the movie trivia game from my friend did. It's called "Scene It?" and it's different from anything that I've ever played before. That's because some of the questions are based on film clips that can be found on the accompanying DVD. It was so cool to be able to play a movie trivia game while actually watching the scenes that the questions refer to! I've been playing "Scene It?" every day since I got it!

This movie trivia game was so fun that I wanted to buy other ones just like it. Since I do all my shopping online, it was easy for me to check for similar offerings from other companies. Sure enough, I found another DVD-based movie trivia game. It's called "Playback", and it's different from "Scene It?" by virtue of the fact that there's no board or question cards. Gameplay is handled entirely via the DVD, which I actually preferred. It meant I wouldn't have to worry about losing pieces, bending cards, or damaging the board. Plus, "Playback" features hundreds of different questions, thereby ensuring that repeats would be few and far between.

Now that I have these two great movie trivia games, I invite a small group of friends over to my place almost every day to play. It's fun to finally be able to put my film knowledge to good use, and I'm happy to say that I end up winning about 90 percent of the time. The only drawback is that now I spend all my time playing one movie trivia game or the other and never have a chance to watch any new movies!
